WHERE (WestCountry Health Education Research Enterprise) is a registered charitable company based in Wellington, Somerset and was founded in 1988 by local GP Dr Bernard Newmarch. Its key mission is to identify and support the delivery of high quality, relevant health and social based community assistance services for adults with individual needs, including those with physical disabilities, mental health conditions and those who require other kinds of support on a day to day basis.

Currently overseeing a number of key projects across the WestCountry Community, WHERE is also committed to providing education resources and training for those implementing those projects and sharing its knowledge, skills and experience with other organisations operating similar services across the country.

The organisation has been recently strengthened with new appointments to its management committee and executive team, and with some support and funding to date, has established, what are now considered, essential services to local communities across the West Country.

There are still new challenges ahead. WHERE is broadening its services and starting to introduce new and innovative programmes and services to add to its support and services portfolio, and maximise the impact and benefit they have in local communities across the West Country. It is proactively looking for new ways to raise monies to invest in new services that will benefit the people in local communities.
